The rising fuel prices alongside the congestion charges have simultaneously fuelled the rise in the insurance premiums for vehicles across UK. Furthermore, the cues hint at further increase in the costs, which would make pay-as-you-go as the best possible step possible for the UK drivers. The pay-as-you-go method is something that most of the UK citizens are used to. People have been using this method for a number of purposes and it is high time that car insurances could also be clubbed with it. The question is however whether more of the UK driver would prefer the pay-as-you-go method.

As per a recent report, close to 46% of the UK driving population offer their support for the road pricing provided that it was coupled with the abolition or the decrease in the road tax.

Home Insurance & Securing Furniture

A recent survey of homeowners has revealed some startling statistics when it comes to the secure storage of high value furniture, such as sporting equipment. Apparently, a high number of homeowners actually leave such equipment in their garages and outhouses unsecured for large portions of the year. If this is the case then it is no wonder that so many home insurance claims are refused these days.

In home insurance policy documents, insurers will stipulate that only goods that are secured at all times will be covered. This means of course behind a locked door. The garage or an outhouse is an ideal storage facility… providing of course that it conforms to this principle. T

Young Drivers Insurance & Longer Learning Periods

Posted in Car Insurance Topics by Christine Davis on October 5, 2010 No Comments yet

Did you know that just over a third of all deaths on the road are young drivers under the age of 25? If you did not then you may be surprised at these figures, but then it does make sense in the context of premiums offered via young drivers car insurance. This is why many believe that the rules of the road are in need of reform and research released just a few days ago has demonstrated that this has the backing of over 75% of drivers.

The proposals would see learners learning how to drive for at least a year to give them more experience on the road with a view to reducing accidents. It would certainly solve a few problems on the road but whether it would ensure the young drivers are sensible enough to obey all road laws and not drive recklessly remains to be seen.

Cut Your Donegal Insurance Bill in Half

Posted in Auto Insurance by Christine Davis on October 4, 2010 No Comments yet

By taking on some more risk when it comes to car insurance, you may be able to lower your insurance bill by as much as half with companies like Donegal Insurance.  Fox Business recently posted an article entitled “How to Cut Your Car Insurance Bill in Half” to explain how to go about it.  First you’ll have to research your individual state’s minimum coverage requirements because they do differ.  Many states have minimum coverage of 25/50/10, which translates to $25,000 of bodily injury coverage per person, $50,000 of bodily injury coverage per accident, and $10,000 of property-damage coverage per accident.  However most insurers set you up automatically with 100/300/50 coverage which is significantly more than the minimum in most states.

By reducing your liability limits to the minimum you can save a lot of money.  Other ways to save include getting rid of your collision and comprehensive coverage, increasing your deductible to at least $1,000, and dropping your uninsured motorists (UM) coverage.  By using all or a combination of these changes, you have the ability to lower your car insurance payments by half.  In the article’s financial example, they lowered their minimum coverage to 25/50/10, eliminated their comprehensive, collision, and rental coverage, but left their UM coverage there.  Payment reductions were 35% for a Cadillac Escalade, 46% for a Chrysler Town & County, 47% for a Toyota Camry, 48% for a Hyundai Santa Fe, and 50% for a Ford F-150.

You have to understand that reducing coverage like this will add a lot of risk to your car insurance needs.  Be sure to speak with an agent or multiple agents to see what type of risk and coverage is best for your individual situation.  Another good way to lower your car insurance payments is to shop around and see what pricing you can get from a company like Farmers auto insurance.  Look for deals and make sure that the company has a good reputation from the BBB and lacks a lot of complaints.  You can save a lot of money by shopping around.

When you think of foreign exchange programs for students, what countries come to mind as popular destinations? The United States? Germany? Spain? France? While these are the nations we most typically associate with exchange programs, new trends are changing that. And that means that international student insurance is now a more important purchase than ever.

According to a recent article on CNN.com, today’s students are starting to look to new destinations for their exchange student adventure.
