The California Low Cost Auto Insurance Program assists needy families with obtaining car insurance with rates lower than normal. The theory behind this program is brilliant. California legislature decided that more motorists would buy insurance if it was affordable. How long did it take them to figure THAT out? Needless to say, now California car insurance is cheaper for people who qualify, but there are some downfalls to this program.

I read an article in an auto magazine a few days ago and the topic somewhat startled me, so much so that I really thought that I should mention it here just in case it turns out to be true. This article stated that cheap car insurance premiums are expected to go up this year as a direct result of the economic problems the country is having. Fewer cars are on the road, more people are claiming for the slightest problem because they cannot immediately afford to have the cars fixed themselves and more people are looking to take out reduced premiums so companies are not making as much money.

Personally, I do not necessarily believe this because cheap car insurance premiums will go up anyway on account of the rate of inflation that applies.
