Auto insurance companies, rarely if ever, are concerned about reasons and justifications. They simply focus on the facts and draw their own conclusions. If you overshot the red light and hit another vehicle, your insurance company will focus on the amount it had to pay on your policy. It will not take into consideration that your tires did not grip the road and you skidded through the red light. The company would merely insist that the job of maintaining the tires and preparing it for the cold season too was your own responsibility.

If you want to avoid being stuck in silly mishaps which may lead to huge increase in your insurance premium, you should take steps to prepare your car for the winter season.

Continued from part one; ‘car insurance – Hybrid cars’

In the first part of this article we examined the hybrid car, looking at what the system is composed of, the way the separate components work and how it achieves its excellent fuel economy. We will now look at other ways in which the hybrid car improves its efficiency and the running costs incurred with this type of car.

One area where a noticeable difference can be made is aero-dynamics. A lot of the engines work is put into pushing the car through the air and the resistance it encounters (known as aerodynamic drag). One way this can be reduced is by reducing the frontal area of the car, the smaller this surface the less the drag effect, thus saving on fuel.

These two facts make motorcycle ownership a much more attractive proposition for impecunious young people.

There is however a noteworthy exception to this. It is only relatively recently that mini motorbikes have made an appearance, and their use has been taken up avidly by juveniles, but already legislation has had to be amended to deal with their illegal use.

Car Insurance – quot;Pay As You Drive quot;

Posted in Auto Insurance by Christine Davis on March 26, 2010 No Comments yet

The majority of insurance quotes are based on the assumption that you will be driving more than 6000 miles a year. However, if you do not use your car that regularly, then chances are you won’t be racking up this much mileage a year.

If this is the case then you may find Norwich Union’s ‘Pay As You Drive’ insurance more suitable, which boasts a saving of up to 30% over conventional car insurance. With this system the driver pays an up-front fee, usually a fraction of the standard policy, and then is charged monthly based upon individual driving habits.

A Global Positioning System (GPS) is fitted to the car which enables the insurer to monitor how far the car has been driven, the type of road used and the time of each journey.
