AAA Insurance – An Overview

The American Automobile Association, for “AAA” for short, is not an insurance company per-say. Indeed, as a non-profit organization made up of clubs across the country, members join this organization to open up different insurance options and travel services to them – including, of course, auto insurance.

AAA Its History

In 1902, several motor clubs banded together to deal with a lack of roads that were suitable for cars. These clubs were the Chicago Automobile Club, Automobile Club of America, Automobile Club of New Jersey, Long Island Automobile Club, Rhode Island Automobile Club, Philadelphia Automobile Club, Princeton University Automobile Club, Automobile Club of Utica, and Grand Rapids Automobile Club – and together, they form what we know today as the AAA. Make PIP Auto Insurance Claims Right Away

Posted in Car Insurance Topics by Christine Davis on May 3, 2012 No Comments yet

After years of debate, changes have been finalized for Floridas PIP auto insurance.  According to Tampa Bays Fox 13 News, Jeremy Campbell says Car insurance changes (are) coming soon.  Rick Scott, Governor of Florida, signed a bill this week that will take effect on July 1st of this year.  Auto insurance companies and lawmakers have been working for years to battle fraud related to Floridas Personal Injury Protection (PIP) insurance.  They say that these changes will help to lower auto insurance rates because the fraud was out of control.

What will the new bill change?  First of all, Florida drivers will have to seek medical attention for any injuries related to an automobile crash within fourteen days of the occurrence.  At one point, there was no cap on the amount of time that could lapse between an accident and receiving medical treatment.  Unfortunately, some drivers were abusing the PIP system and seeking treatment for injuries or medical conditions unrelated to the crash quite a time later.

Drivers will also have to seek this medical attention from a certified medical doctor or dentist.  They cannot go to see a chiropractor or a holistic type of healer for care if they have been injured in an automobile accident.  The amount of benefits you can be paid has now been capped at $2,500, unless a certified doctor says that you have an emergency medical condition.  The cap used to be $10,000, so this is quite a significant change.  If you live in Florida and need to use your PIP insurance, make sure to have your claim documented by a medical professional within fourteen days of your accident.

Along with the hot wheels, cool trim, leather interior and killer sound system, your sports car came with another line item add-on that wasn’t part of the MSRP: sports car automobile insurance. Insuring your shiny fast ride can add thousands of dollars to cost of ownership over the life of the car…unless you’re a savvy shopper. Car Insurance for Collectors

If you keep a vehicle primarily as a collector’s item, standard auto insurance coverage is likely unnecessary because such vehicles are rarely driven and don’t require extensive insurance protection. For example, you might have an exotic Italian sports coupe that you only drive for a few weeks in the summer, or a 1976 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am that you only drive back and forth to an occasional auto show. Rarely driven show vehicles like these are best covered by classic auto insurance. Such policies offer the same protections as standard policies but, because the insured vehicle spends the majority of the year in storage, are substantially less expensive.

You and your vehicle will need to meet the carriers requirements in order to qualify for a collector car insurance policy.
